Buffer and Sause

So about 90% of today I’ve sent working on something I call all-purpose-SoundLibrary in AL(Audio Library, like GL but for audio). This is because I’ve need something to run sound in my game, but it’s extremely complicated to have sound. At least with GL it makes sense.

So basically I‘ve spent most of today trying to figure out how buffers and sources work within what Dr. Payne gave us does. Note to anyone who is in my class, just wait till he teaches us it… So how I got it to work is;

Another Blog Title

Little Refresh

You see that? Third post in and I’m already making puns about the amount of posts I’ve made. I blame society, you better yet, I blame you. Yes you, the people reading this because you have nothing better to do. Now I’m bagging on my audience! When will the clichés end?

So today I went to go buy Oblivion, not because I don’t own it, but because I don’t have a pc powerfully enough to run it. Went to JB HIFI, they didn’t have it… Well I don’t think so. Found a copy of Pikmin 2 so I got that instead. Very tempted to get Star Trek season 1 too, but no.

3D plus Time equal No!

So today, 14/7, I continued modeling the leg of my creature. In fact I modeled all the way up to the face. Now I’ve got to figure out how the face will work out… Since the idea of having a single eye looks shit… or at least how I tried to do it.

Seconds are for Whiners

The What’s What

The day I started this blog I had only just got over a virus. And a computer virus at that. So I had to reinstall Windows, which is BS. To add to that, I also needed to buy a $125 USB DVD drive! Oh well, at least it made installing office again easier…

Anyway, I’ve been playing Fallout 3 again (been about 3 months) this last week. And I really forgot how good this game is… RPG-wise. It really doesn’t work as a FPS, too clunky for Xbox. Anyway, so I’ve gone through the Broken Steel DLC, pretty good, I really like how that added side quests to this one which wasn’t collect the ponies or some shit like that.

Speaking of ponies, everyone should have been to FilmCow and watched Charlie the Unicorn 3. I love that guys work!

Anyway, I plan to update this blog more often, like twice a week, just didn’t get round to it this week… I had… errr… TV shows to watch.

What a Flash

So I’ve been doing work in flash, in fact, two Tafe classes involve it. First being 2D animation, in which I’m currently making a character of which I used to make a small web comic about. That is up on my DA account, which is racura.deviantart.com. Anyway, I’ll see if WordPress lets me upload flash file, if so I’ll stick up what I’ve done so far.

Adding to that, I’ll add my current work in my other Tafe course Game’s Design. It’s just a simple app in flash using ActionScript 2, it’s just a cannon that fires balls, nothing too flash… Ha, get it?

Anyway, still on the topic of flash and ActionScript, I need to rant. How frecking hard is it for that to understand the Y axis ascends? They got some bullshit reason for letting it go the other way… WTF? This really pissed me off when I was making that flash game before. Frecking impossible to work out Tan of an object. On another note, why is rotation in degrees and Math class in radians? *vents*

Road Rules and Road Games

So at the moment in my OpenGL game I’m trying to add a tunnel. I’ll now explain just how hard that is;

Image you have you have a rough circle, divided into 1000 points. Now double that for inside and outside of the road. Now for each of those in and out points you want to find a center point, and from that make a 8 segment circle of R*1.5 radius, R being the distance between the in and out segments. Now do that for around 100 point, connecting up those circles to create a tunnel. Sounds fun right? Well for me it is, so shut the fuck up!

Hello User!!!

So it’s been awhile

and now you can too!!!

Hello world again, I have returned.  Looks like it was around 2007 that I made my account here.  Shoot!  Long time, no see.  Of course although I made a blog here, I never posted anything.  Called the “dark connection” I think…

It was…  ah…  Deleted…  By me about 5 minutes ago.

Anyway, I thought it was about time I began a blog, so that I can document… stuff.  Sticking in what I did in tafe, what I thinking of doing (coding wise) and stuff I find on the Internet.

Ins and outs of 3Dmax

and how not to fail

So this part here is a double up.  Putting my 3d max documentation here, and well…  Tell anyone who is reading what I’m up to in 3dmax.

So today(7/5) I restarted my class model.  Later I’ll shoot up some pictures of the flash version of my old model, looks great in that, shit in max.  So last night I was bored after spending 3 hours working on my openGL car game, could not for the life of me get to sleep, started thinking about my model in max and how it didn’t work when we would get on to walk cycles.

So I began to  draw up some characters.  Ended up being an alien I think…  not really sure.  So today, I began tobuild it up.  Started on the front toe and worked my way up the leg.  Below is a picture,;

Anyway, making it was really fun.  Can wait to rig it up.  Also, if I get round to it, I’ll post up my sketches.  And, well, my quote of last night whilst drawing it was “Every good Alien needs an ass crack.”

How pain is our master

So to explain what I’m going in OpenGL(one of my tafe classes) at the moment, simply;

All of my class was given a pretty simple game, a first person car race around a random track.  We were told to modify the code as to improve it, like adding sound.  So I’ll try to list off all the stuff I’ve added already…

  • P(p)seudo texturing on the grass
  • Handbrake button (space bar)
  • Bumpers on the side of the track
  • Stopping the player from leaving the road
  • Start line
  • Trees
  • Made the hills more random
  • Made the user have input on the track size
  • Minimap, including player location
  • Speedo
  • Figures out laps, and lap times
  • Quit functions
  • Car sounds
  • Text

I think that’s all…  Anyway, I plan to add

  • Grand Stand

Can’t think of anything else at the moment.  Anyway, that’s about all for tonight.
